  • Sakleshpur is still not commercialized. There are lot of mud roads, streams of water, open grounds in between the hills, no cell coverage, no TV network. All these make Sakleshpur the ideal place for those who truly want a break from corporate life.

  • The place is good for a weekend and views are awesome. The wind is breezy and relaxing. The weekend is going to be rejuvenating and the views are valleys are breathtaking. It's a quite place and is not much crowded.

Sakleshpur or Sakleshpura is a hill station town in Hassan District of the South Indian state of Karnataka. It is a beautiful town located in Western Ghats on Bangalore‑Mangalore Highway. Sakleshpur is located on the border of Malnad and Bayaluseemae in Hassan district. It receives heavy rainfall from the southwest monsoon and because of the temperate climate; this place is blessed with huge amount of coffee, tea, cardamom, and pepper plantations. In fact, Sakleshpur Taluk reports for around one-third of cardamom production in India. Sakleshpur is located in the Western Ghats, a mountain range that stretches from Kerala to Gujarat. The southern range, which includes Bisle reserve forest and the region around Sakleshpur is listed as one of the 18 most diverse spots in the world in terms of flora and fauna. The town lies on National Highway 48 (NH-48) which connects port city of Mangalore with capital city Bengaluru of Karnataka state. The nearest airport is Mangalore International Airport. Sakleshpur is a scenic location in Karnataka sandwiched between Coorg district to south and Chikmagalur district to North, Dakshina Kananda district to west and Hassan district to east. History

According to history, the region was under the rule of the Chalukyas, Hoysalas and the kings of Mysore. During the reign of the Hoysalas, a shivalingam was found in this town. However, the shivalingam found was broken, which was called as shakaleshwara. Since then, the town came to be known as Sakaleshwara among local residents. According to another legend, the town was known as ‘sakala aishwaryagalinda kudida pura’, which literally means ‘the place is home to all kinds of wealth’.
